The Sad Album | Laura Bowler + lovemusic

  • HEAR - Manufacture / Plateau scénique 7 Rue de la Krutenau Strasbourg, Grand Est, 67000 France (map)

lovemusic is delighted to collaborate with Laura Bowler in a new show for Musica Festival 2025

The Sad Album is an excavation of the darker, stranger, more tender aspects of grief. We - Laura Bowler, Sam Redway, and the musicians of lovemusic collective - have been sharing stories, laughing, crying, and getting very angry in order to understand (and remove) the masks we wear when facing the loss of someone we love. Sit with us through this kaleidoscopic compilation of voids left, magnified frustrations, and celebrated mundanities during a year and a day of filling and amplifying grief’s silences and absurdities.

Slipping between the universal and the personal, the raw and the precise, the comic and the tragic you can expect to hear such classics as Sorry 4 Ur Loss, Condolences & Other Empty Words, and Let’s Have a Cuppa as we explore a permanently shifted reality. Grab a cushion and make a brew as we draw from both psychological and neurological research as well as personal testimony in this visceral and explosive album of songs in which we are happy to talk about being sad.
