After a successful premiere at their debut in Donaeuschinger Musiktage, lovemusic will record David Bird’s Hinterlands for his upcoming album at Downtown Studios in Strasbourg.

My piece, Hinterlands, composed for lovemusic, navigates through subtly siting microtonal colors and alien instrumental textures. In the work, luminous harmonic artifacts gradually emerge from its dense, clustered counterpoint. The work is inspired by William Gibson's short story of the same name, which depicts a wormhole between Earth and Mars, from which travelers bring back mysterious alien artifacts. The story explores the limits of human understanding and the pote tial dangers of contact with alien intelligence.
