Premieres in private places

Despite the period of confinement coming to an end in France and many sectors of society resuming some kind of public activity, the Arts rest in a state of uncertainty. Numerous arts initiatives have flurished online - but we begin to wonder how long artists will wait before being able to interact again with audiences. In different countries across the world musical life is resuming at different speeds - but the art created during and inspired by these unusual circumstances is just beginning to be shown... One of the most diffcult consequences for lovemusic of the current situation is the impact on creative activites. We wanted to undertake a new project in which we can once again engage creatively but without pretending or emulating "normal circumtances" - if we can't play together in the same space - why pretend we are ? Creating free online access to projects that were supposed to take place seems like it could have a negative impact on the future of the Arts. lovemusic have therefore decided to undtertake a new collaborative project, working and creating with composers without a live concert as the the end point. Premieres in Private Places is therefore a series of five audiovisual short-form works in collaboration with 5 composers from around the world, some of whom we have already worked with and others with whom this will be our first collaboration. These new video works, which will be released online from June - September 2020, will be created as virtual pieces (not intended for live performance), will be short-form in order to adapt to online behaviour patterns and will be "free-scored" in order to allow those who don't have access to their usual instrumental equipment the opportunity to be part of the project. In this way we aim to be working with and not against or in spite of the current situation. These new works are a project in themselves - a creative reaction to extraordinary circumstances.
