Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik

  • WERK°STADT WITTEN Mannesmannstraße Witten, NRW, 58455 Germany (map)

For their debut at the Wittener Tage Für Neue Musik lovemusic propose three new works. These distinct compositions intertwine to explore the depths of human experience and societal norms. Through the works of Sasha Blondeau, Thierry Tidrow, and Martin Schüttler, this concert transcends traditional boundaries, inviting audiences to contemplate identity, hope, and the complexities of existence. Each piece offers a unique perspective, yet collectively they form a cohesive narrative, challenging conventions and provoking introspection.

.Martin Schüttler's piece, "I am your boy," draws inspiration from the libretto of the Rosenkavalier, delving into themes of identity and self-injury through a queer lens. Using live-electronic processing, Schüttler creates a sonically rich experience where the soprano's voice undergoes rhythmic and genderqueer transformations. Thierry Tidrow's composition, "Les spectres de l’utopie," explores the struggle to maintain hope in a world marked by turmoil and violence. Through dynamic shifts between hope and despair, Tidrow summons the spectres that haunt our dreams and realities. Sasha Blondeau's work delves into the complexities of human identity, challenging traditional norms and highlighting the experiences of those on the margins. Blondeau embarks on a journey of hybridization and monstrosity, inviting listeners to contemplate the liminal spaces where marginalized voices reside.
